I love Red Wing, the place I call home. Every time I drive into the river valley, I am amazed at the natural beauty - the majestic bluffs, the historic riverfront, and our friendly, welcoming people. Red Wing is vibrant and alive, yet it has a serene touch, a calming, natural beauty that surrounds and permeates our everyday lives. However, we have room to grow and develop.

Red Wing's population remains relatively stable at about 16,500. Demographics show that our population is aging, and our school-age population is declining. Many of our working-age residents commute for better-paying jobs, sometimes drawing them away from Red Wing. Attracting business development that meets the community's needs is important.
This reality points to the need for a more diverse and developing business community that will provide good jobs and grow our community. However, that requires a business/community synergy – an education system that works and helps fill the need for advanced business requirements. Failing this, our Red Wing residents pick up a larger and larger portion of the financial needs of our city, schools, and county.

Red Wing Police Department provides the community with traditional police services, including crime prevention, evidence, investigations, records, and patrol. I support:
Foremost, maintaining a safe environment for individuals and property so that all can thrive.

Environmental Issues matter, from stormwater mitigation to the water we drink. Ensuring that our natural waterways are less polluted is being responsible. Keeping our families healthy is critical. Maintaining our parks, bluffs, and shorelines is important to all of us.
These are prudent measures necessary to maintain the health of our community.

I thoroughly enjoy summer music in the park, performances at the Sheldon Theater, and maybe strolling through a street fair. Community Enrichment speaks to the quality of life that I enjoy.
What each of us find educational, pleasurable, and relaxing is unique for each of us. Some people enjoy a drama, some a Johnny Cash Tribute, some would rather be out fishing. Community Arts should be self-supporting through customer-driven, valued experiences.
